Yaw

In the context of road safety, yaw refers to movement – such as twisting or rotation – that occurs around a vehicle’s vertical axis. The vertical axis is an imaginary line that goes from the ground through the center of the vehicle and up towards the sky. Movement occurs around this axis when, for example, the back end of a vehicle swings out due to loss of traction. A more extreme example of a yaw occurs when a vehicle spins out completely.
